![]() ![]() I did a lot of looking when the Emotiva died, and the Yamaha RX-a880 receiver threaded the needle as being perfect as a preamp to fit the bill. ![]() I've been through five processors (Rotel A/V receiver as preamp, Krell HTS processor, Sunfire Home Theater Grand IV processor, Emotiva UMC-200 processor, Yamaha Aventage RX-a880 receiver as pre-amp (current unit)) over the past decade+ with the same 6-channel McIntosh amp and same speakers/subs.ĪV processing gets obsoleted pretty quickly - I refuse to spend a ton on something that will become a boat anchor when new technology comes out. The Emotiva UMC-200 was an affordable, but great performing A/V processor - sadly, mine broke twice (once fixable via guidance from Emotiva to upgrade power supply capacitors (simple parts order and solder job) and once not fixable (HDMI board failed, parts NLA). I'd say that the only thing that is "out" is reasonably priced A/V processors - they just don't exist for the most part. What do you think about my logic? Would that work? Or, can you think of a better way? Then, when I want to use the AVP, I have a single RCA going to each sub from a sub output on the rear of the AVP and I'm good to go.this way, all I have to do is make a simple connection at the rear of the sub for either using the C200 or the AVP. The proposition is, how do I get a full frequency analog out signal from the C200 to the subs while still retaining the ability for those subs to be connected to the AVP as well? If the C200 has a couple line outs, both left and right, I can run some RCA cables from there to the subs and use those signals. Thanks I know if I follow this thing long enough I will figure out how to do it.took a while with the Rotel too but the light finally came on. When I want to go back to the AVP (whatever one I choose) I just turn it on and the front left and right channels from the AVP are the ones passed to the power amp.do I have that right? However, how do I get my subs into that loop and how do I control them with a remote? That would still be a challenge to be solved.hmmmm. Ah.so I connect my phono stage to the C200 to play records, which passes front left and right channels to the power amp. ![]()
